WEST SACRAMENTO – The Giants reinstated catcher Daniel Susac from the 10-day injured list on Friday and optioned infielder Christian Koss to Triple-A Sacramento.

Susac was placed on the IL last month with right elbow ulnar neuritis and has missed the last 22 games, during which the Giants went 9-13. San Francisco (18-26) entered Friday’s series opener with the Athletics at Sutter Health Park 7½ games back of a National League playoff spot.

Susac had been one of the Giants’ better hitters before his injury, posting a 1.152 OPS over his first 24 plate appearances last month as he started to make the case for more playing time over then-incumbent Patrick Bailey, who was traded to the Cleveland Guardians last week.
