A male juvenile was killed in a shooting in East Los Angeles early Saturday morning, and the gunman remains at large, authorities said.
Deputies with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department responded around 1:15 a.m. to the area of 6th Street and Fraser Avenue regarding an assault with a deadly weapon call, according to a department news release.
When deputies arrived, they found the juvenile suffering from a gunshot wound.
The victim was taken to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Investigators with the Sheriff’s Department’s Homicide Bureau said the suspect fled the scene in a dark-colored SUV that was last seen traveling eastbound on 6th Street.
Authorities said it is not yet known whether the shooting was gang-related.
No suspect description was immediately released, and the investigation remains ongoing.
