SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — The San Diego Police Department announced Saturday a man was arrested in Arizona in connection with a deadly assault that happened in San Diego in October 2025.
The alleged assault took place on Midway Drive on Oct. 26 and left 68-year-old Brian Salatino in a coma for 100 days before he died in the hospital on Feb. 3.
During the incident, witnesses reportedly called 911 after seeing the attack. San Diego Police and Fire-Rescue responded and attempted life-saving measures on Salatino before transporting him to the hospital, where he remained in a coma before he died.
The Western Division Investigations Bureau detectives initially handled the investigation and identified a person of interest.
According to SDPD, the Mohave County Sheriff’s Department in Arizona arrested 60-year-old Noel Frischknecht on May 9 for an outstanding warrant out of San Diego County for his alleged connection with Salatino’s death.
Frischknecht is being held in a Mohave County jail before he is extricated to San Diego.
