The creator of the Business Office Residency Program for Oakland Schools has been named Oakland County School Business Administrator of the Year
Teri Les, assistant superintendent of finance and operations at Oakland Schools, has more than 20 years of financial leadership experience in K-12 education and her leadership has supported all 28 local districts through strategic financial planning, operational management, and professional collaboration.
She was named for the honor by the Oakland County School Business Officials.
“It is without reservation that I recommend Teri Les as Oakland County Business Administrator of the Year,” said Oakland Schools Superintendent Kenneth Gutman, who nominated Les along with Kandice Moynihan, assistant superintendent of business services for Bloomfield Hills Schools. “She has created an incredible Business Residency Program that has the potential to positively impact every district and every business office in Oakland County.”
The program is designed to address workforce challenges and build a pipeline of future school business leaders. In addition, she established a professional development program for current business office staff and introduced a two-year mentorship initiative that connects leaders with emerging professionals.
“Her knowledge, professionalism, and willingness to support others have made her a respected expert in our field,” said OCSBO President Kandice Moynihan. “Her leadership extends far beyond technical expertise. She is always willing to support colleagues as they navigate challenges and grow professionally.”
As part of the honor, Les will also be considered as Oakland County’s nominee for the 2027 Michigan School Business Official of the Year.
