A truck tipped into the recycling pit at the Recology recycling center Sunday, injuring the driver, who required rescue by the San Francisco Fire Department.

Rescue crews were called to the recycling center around 11:45 a.m. after a front loader drove over the edge of the recycling pit and fell about 30 feet, said Lt. Ken Smith, a fire department spokesperson.

The department posted a video to social media showing the driver immobilized on a backboard and eight fire crew members guiding him out of the truck along a ladder. He was transported to a hospital with unspecified injuries, Smith said.

Smith did not have an update Sunday afternoon on the driver’s condition but said “he was talking to us on the way to the hospital.”
