A federal grand jury indictment was unsealed Monday in the investigation into a 2024 attack on a Jewish man outside a synagogue in Los Angeles’ Pico-Robertson area.
The June 23, 2024 attack was reported during an event at the Adas Torah Synagogue called “My Home in Israel,” around which a pro-Palestinian protest was organized. The real estate event was intended to promote land for sale in Israel.
During the event, a man walking his dog near the synagogue was approached from behind and punched by a man who then walked away and retreated in the crowd, according to federal authorities.
In court documents, federal prosecutors identified the attacker as Zaid Gitesatani.
According to prosecutors, Gitesatani posted a screenshot from the event with a caption that read, “I swung good on them… It was satisfying.”
