CAPK, the Community Partnership of Kern County, will be providing food to people who have had their CalFresh benefits affected by the Federal Government shutdown.
Millions of Californians are facing the loss of federally-funded food benefits starting Saturday, and CAPK will be in Taft to provide assistance next week.
CAPK will be at Franklin Field on Thursday, Nov. 6 for supplemental food support for CalFresh recipients. Those attending should bring their EBT cards.
The support will be available from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Another food giveaway in Taft is tentatively planned for Nov.20 but that hasn’t been confirmed.
Federal funding for food benefits is expiring as the federal government shutdown enters its second month. Federal funding that supports free and reduced meals for school children may be impacted soon if the shutdown doesn’t end.
