A White Lake Township man is facing felony charges for allegedly attacking his former girlfriend as he was moving out of her home last Friday.

Cory Alan Leffingwell, 40, is charged with third-degree criminal sexual conduct by force or coercion and assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder for an alleged incident in the 3000 block of Silver Leaf Lane, in the Cedarbrook Estates mobile home park off M-59 near Bogie Lake Road.

He’s in custody at the Oakland County Jail, with bond set at $200,000.

According to the White Lake Police Department, the minor child of the alleged victim called 911 for help, shortly before 5 a.m. on May 15.

Leffingwell is accused of attacking the woman, age 38, while he was moving out after their three-year relationship ended.

Leffingwell is scheduled for a probable cause conference on May 26 in 52-2 District Court. A preliminary exam is scheduled for a week later. The CSC charge is punishable by up to 15 years in prison. The assault charge carries a penalty of up to 10 years in prison and/or a $5,000 maximum fine.

HAVEN of Oakland County and the forensic science lab of the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office assisted the White Lake Police Department in the investigation, according to White Lake Township Police Lt. Jeffrey Way.
