EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEVV) — The University of Southern Indiana announced Tuesday a comprehensive support plan for students and employees affected by the sudden suspension of undergraduate programs at Oakland City University.
Recognizing the widespread uncertainty caused by the operations halt, USI is offering personalized academic counseling, waived fees, and financial incentives to help displaced students continue their degree paths with minimal disruption.
“We recognize what a challenging moment this is for the OCU community,” USI President Steven J. Bridges said. “We understand that every student’s situation is unique, and we are ready to provide personalized guidance that reflects your goals.”
To streamline the transition, USI is waiving its standard application fee for all OCU transfer applicants. Eligible students can also access a dedicated $1,200 Oakland City scholarship, alongside opportunities to apply for additional institutional financial aid.
University officials stated that specialized transition teams are prepared to work with students on an individual basis. Academic advisors will review credit histories to maximize credit transfers, map out remaining degree requirements, and provide targeted career counseling. These support services will be accessible through both in-person and online appointments.
The regional outreach also extends to university personnel facing upcoming job losses. USI administrators are encouraging displaced OCU faculty and staff members to review the current employment openings listed on the USI Human Resources website.
