California Highway Patrol North Sacramento division said a juvenile was driving the Tacoma with six juvenile passengers towards Eastbound Harris Avenue. A school bus with 5 passengers was traveling northbound on Belden Street.
CHP officials said the pick-up truck failed to stop at a stop sign and crashed into the school bus.
The seven juveniles in the Tacoma were transported to a local hospital to be treated for minor injuries, CHP North Sacramento said. The driver and one passenger of the school bus were also transported with minor injuries.
Justin Slyvia, Spokesperson for Sac Fire, said the special needs of the kids made their assessment a little more difficult. However, the medical director came out to assist with the scene.
Sylvia said the crash happened in the middle of the intersection and the bus sustained significant front-end damage. Witnesses told fire crews the impact actually spun the bus around and caused the Tacoma to go through a metal fence and damage two sheds in a backyard.
CHP said the road has since reopened.
