FRESNO, Calif. (FOX26) — A man has been arrested after trespassing the home of Fresno City Attorney Andrew Janz.

Fresno County sheriff’s deputies responded around 3:30 a.m. on May 17 to a report of a trespasser at a home on North Van Ness Boulevard, between Ashlan and Shields avenues.

When deputies arrived, they detained a man in the yard.

He was later identified as 56-year-old Larry Torrez of Fresno and taken into custody.

During a search, deputies say they found Torrez in possession of a knife.

The homeowner was identified as Fresno City Attorney Andrew Janz, who told authorities he is comfortable with his identity being released publicly.

Torrez was booked into the Fresno County Jail on charges of trespassing, attempted burglary, and threatening a public official.

It remains unclear whether investigators believe Janz was specifically targeted.

The investigation is ongoing.
