All occupants were able to get out safely before firefighters arrived, according to Chris Vestal, Metro Fire battalion chief.
“One person was in the unit on the right, and then a mother and two children in the unit on the left,” Vestal said.
The bulk of the fire was in the left unit, and firefighters were able to contain it before it spread to both units, according to Metro Fire. The adjoining unit sustained smoke damage.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. According to Metro Fire, the homeowner reported the fire may have started behind the dryer.
No injuries were reported to residents or firefighters, Metro Fire said.
Vestal said dryer fires are often caused by lint buildup or poor maintenance.
