A person was rescued from San Francisco Bay on Wednesday afternoon after a 911 caller reported someone in the water, the San Francisco Fire Department said.
The call came in about 4:30 p.m. near the Ferry Building, one of the city’s busiest waterfront landmarks and ferry terminals.
Fire department rescue swimmers and a fire boat pulled one person from the water, SFFD said.
The person was transferred to an ambulance and taken to a local hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

The department did not immediately release the person’s age or condition. It was not clear Wednesday evening how the person entered the water or how long they had been in the bay before rescuers arrived.
