A 4-year-old child is in critical but stable condition after reportedly falling from the fifth floor of an apartment building in Long Beach earlier this week.
The incident happened just after 6 p.m. on May 20 at the Urban Village Apartments in the 1000 block of Long Beach Boulevard, according to photojournalists with KNN News, a video news service.
Long Beach police officers and firefighters responded to the scene and rushed the child to a nearby hospital. No official update has been released on the child’s current condition.
Details remain limited, and it’s unclear exactly what led to the fall or whether the incident was accidental or involved foul play.

Footage from the scene obtained by KTLA showed the area in front of the building cordoned off with crime scene tape. Uniformed officers stood at the perimeter while detectives scanned the sidewalk for evidence, at one point photographing what appeared to be blood on the ground.

The scene remained active for several hours before a cleanup crew arrived and thoroughly washed the sidewalk in front of the building.
No additional information has been released, including whether any arrests have been made or if the case is being investigated as a crime.
KTLA has reached out to officials with the Long Beach Police Department and is waiting to hear back.
