Community mourns teen coach killed weeks before graduation
East L.A.—The East Los Angeles community is mourning Joshua Aila, a 17-year-old senior at Esteban Torres High School who was killed in a shooting early Saturday near 6th Street and Fraser Avenue. Family, friends, classmates and coaches gathered Monday to remember Aila, known as “Coach Jawsh” at Champions East LA Fight Academy, where he mentored young boxers.
