A San Francisco man has been charged with murder in connection with a fatal 2024 shooting in the Mission District involving an alleged ghost gun, District Attorney Brooke Jenkins announced Friday.

Darryon Harry Chun, 28, faces one count of murder, and prosecutors allege he used a privately manufactured Sig Sauer P320 in the killing, according to a statement from the district attorney’s office.

Chun is also charged with resisting an executive officer while allegedly armed with a firearm, possession of an assault weapon and possession of a pistol without a proper identification mark, the statement says.

The shooting happened at about 5 a.m. on Aug. 4, 2024 near 20th and Shotwell streets. Prosecutors allege that Chun shot a man in a wheelchair once in the back of the head, killing him.

Investigators later recovered surveillance footage that allegedly shows two men approaching Chun before he pulls a gun out and points it at them, authorities said. In the video, one witness can be seen running away, while the victim attempted to escape in his wheelchair, prosecutors said.

The video allegedly shows the moment Chun approaches the victim before a gunshot is heard off-camera, prosecutors said.

San Francisco police identified Chun as the suspect and obtained search and arrest warrants.

After a police tactical unit announced their presence outside Chun’s residence, he allegedly ran out of the back of the building while armed with a long gun, with his escape attempt captured by a police drone, authorities said.

After arresting him, investigators found the Sig Sauer believed to be used in the murder and an illegal kinetic Development Group AR-15-style assault rifle in his residence.

Chun is scheduled to be arraigned at San Francisco’s Hall of Justice on May 28 at 1:30 p.m. Prosecutors plan to ask the arraignment judge to keep Chun jailed without bail and argue that he poses a public safety risk, Jenkins said.
