Jase Bowen is making a heck of a first impression in his new organization.

The 25-year-old center fielder hit his 12th home run — tops in the Padres system — and drove in three runs to lead Triple-A El Paso to a 14-3 win on Friday over visiting Round Rock.

Bowen also singled in a two-hit game, walked, stole his sixth base and scored three runs.

The Padres signed Bowen in late November after he spent the first six years of his career in the Pirates system. He was an 11th-round pick in 2019, hit a career-high 23 homers while splitting 2023 (.794 OPS) at high Single-A and Double-A and finally reached Triple-A for the first time last year.

Bowen still reached free agency, signed with the Padres and hit four homers in 25 Cactus League games (.963 OPS) in pushing Bryce Johnson in the battle for a bench outfield spot on the opening day roster.

That job ultimately went to Johnson, who was already on the 40-man roster, but Bowen has continued to raise his profile with a strong start at Triple-A El Paso, where he is hitting .301/.368/.626 with 33 RBIs through 41 games to move up to No. 23 in MLB.com’s Padres prospect rankings.

Among those minor leaguers, only right-hander Garrett Hawkins (26) is only. Bowen is the only prospect on the list who joined the organization as a minor league free agent as the rest are draftees or international signees.

Bowen wasn’t the only Chihuahua who muscled up on Friday.

Designated hitter Nate Mondou (.861 OPS) hit his fourth homer, first baseman Nick Solak (.856 OPS) hit his third homer and catcher Anthony Vilar (.751 OPS) hit his second homer.

Third baseman Marcos Castañon (.812 OPS) drove in two runs on three hits, including a double and center fielder Carlos Rodriguez (.694 OPS) tripled, walked and drove in three runs.

Right-hander Evan Fitterer (1-0, 2.09 ERA) struck out five over 5⅓ shutout innings.

El Paso is 23-26.

TinCaps 3, Dayton 2: 1B Jack Costello (.791 OPS) drove in all three runs on a walk-off homer, his fifth longball of the season. The USD product, a 10th-rounder in 2021, is hitting .246/.347/.444 with 21 RBIs in 38 games. LHP Kash Mayfield (1.30 ERA) struck out eight over five shutout innings in the start. He walked one and allowed two hits. RHP Isaiah Lowe (7.01 ERA) struck out three over two scoreless innings.

 

LOW SINGLE-A LAKE ELSINORE (24-19)

Visalia 8, Storm 6: LHP Kruz Schoolcraft (8.14 ERA) struck out five but allowed three runs on two hits and two walks in 3 ⅓ innings in the start. RHP Nick Falter (1.52 ERA) struck out four over three shutout innings. 2B Dylan Grego (.611 OPS) went 2-for-4 and drove in two runs on his first homer. CF Ryan Wideman (.871 OPS) went 2-for-5 and stole two bases, giving him 32 on the season—tied for the most in professional baseball.

 

ROOKIE ACL PADRES (7-8)

Dodgers 7, Padres 3 (7): LHP Ryan Och (13.50 ERA) allowed three runs in an inning in his second rehab appearance. DH Yimy Tovar (.938 OPS) went 2-for-4 with his ninth steal.
