Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics hosted in San Diego

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — The Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Southern California is set to take place Tuesday, May 26 at 9 a.m.

The largest public awareness vehicle and grassroots fundraiser for Special Olympics has more than 3,000 officers involved throughout the year in Southern California, championing acceptance and inclusion.

South Bay artist Michael Leaf featured in new sculpture garden

The Law Enforcement Torch Run will kick off at the Chula Vista Police Department. The event has raised more than $1 billion since it began back in 1981.

Southern California is in fact, one of the leading programs in the world. It has raised millions of dollars with participants representing over 200 law enforcement agencies stations.

In San Diego, a number of organizations will be participating and carrying the flame to pass off to Orange County Law Officials.
