A man and a woman were found dead in a car parked in a San Jose State University garage Saturday. An investigation into their deaths is ongoing.

Campus police officers were called to the West Garage at 350 S. 4th St. around 2 p.m. Saturday. Someone had seen the pair in the car earlier in the day but believed they were sleeping; when they came back hours later and saw they were still there, they alerted authorities, university police Captain Jermaine Thomas said.

Officers attempted lifesaving efforts, but the man and woman were declared deceased by San Jose firefighters not long after. The individuals have not been identified, but Thomas said they are not SJSU students or faculty. Classes are over for the spring at San Jose State, but commencement ceremonies have been held on campus throughout the week.

Authorities are probing if an overdose led to the deaths. No further information was available as the investigation continues.
