Visitors to Tilden Regional Park may see numerous uniformed firefighters and police, emergency vehicles and equipment in upcoming wildland fire training drills.
The coordinated preparedness exercises begin Tuesday and continue June 3 and June 5, the East Bay Regional Park District’s Fire Department said.
“This annual drill has taken place with cooperating agencies for more than 25 years and helps ensure a coordinated regional response to wildland fires in or near Tilden Regional Park,” the department said.
There will be no live fire or smoke used during these sessions, according to the department.
Visitors are asked to be aware of firefighters and equipment when driving, biking, hiking, and enjoying the park, the department said.
This year’s participating agencies include the Alameda County Fire Department, Berkeley Fire Department, Berkeley Police Department, Cal Fire, Contra Costa Fire Department, El Cerrito-Kensington Fire Department, Moraga-Orinda Fire Department, Oakland Fire Department and Richmond Fire Department.
