San Diego police arrested a 29-year-old man early Tuesday on suspicion of fatally stabbing his younger brother in a Point Loma market’s parking lot.
Police responded shortly after midnight to the Barons Market on West Point Loma Boulevard near Chapman Street after receiving multiple reports of a stabbing.
Officers and medics found an unconscious man in the parking lot and rendered medical aid. The victim was taken to a hospital, but could not be revived, homicide Lt. Lou Maggi said in a news release.
The name of the 19-year-old victim was not immediately released.
Around 4:40 a.m., police went to Linda Vista and arrested Charles Fluker, the victim’s older brother, at his residence on Ulric Street, Maggi said. It was unclear what led up to the fatal stabbing or why investigators identified his brother as a suspect. Maggi said Fluker would be processed, interviewed and booked into jail on suspicion of homicide.
