OAKLAND CITY, Ind. (WFIE) – We are continuing our coverage of Oakland City University
One of the last emails from Oakland City University administration to employees promised their two missed paychecks would be covered by Wednesday afternoon.
Employees tell us overall, communication from the university has slowed down.
But still, their accounts sit empty.
They received no follow up explanation from university officials Wednesday after those two missed paychecks didn’t come like they were told to expect.
OCU President Ron Dempsey told employees in an email Friday the funds set to cover the first missed paycheck was expected to be dispersed yesterday morning.
The email also said a separate sum should have cleared and hit the funders’ accounts by yesterday afternoon, which would then be used to cover the second missed paycheck by Wednesday at the latest.
Yet, an email sent yesterday to employees says the status on those dollars has not changed.
Employees tell us they have begun pushing back to the administration.
They were asked to return their office keys on May 28, three days before they are officially laid off, but we’ve been told many are refusing to turn in their supplies until they get paid.
As a reminder, employees can contact the Indiana Department of Labor to file a wage claim.
The Department says they’ve received three claims so far from OCU employees.
