BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The city of Bakersfield is set to host a groundbreaking event for a new park coming to the southwest side of the city.

The Antongiovanni Park groundbreaking event will include Bakersfield Vice Mayor Manpreet Kaur, who is currently running for State Senate’s 16th District.

The groundbreaking will take place on Saturday, May 30, at 11 a.m., according to city officials.

It will be hosted in the park’s open field area near the Douglas J. Miller Elementary School, off of Mountain Ridge Drive.

17 News previously reported there were plans for the park include a splash pad, picnic areas, a playground, restrooms, a fitness area and a dog park.
