MANCHESTER, N.H. —
A California man was convicted Thursday of attempted theft by deception after police said he tried to scam a 92-year-old Pelham woman out of thousands of dollars.
According to officials, 39-year-old Yalei Li used a malicious pop-up alert on the woman’s computer, claiming her bank accounts had been compromised and that a bank agent would pick up her money for safekeeping.

Li was arrested in Pelham in April 2025 during the attempted pickup.
He faces up to 15 years in New Hampshire State Prison and a $4,000 fine.
Li is scheduled to be sentenced June 10.
