Firefighters rescued two people Friday morning who were in a Tesla that crashed off Mulholland Highway in Malibu.

The crash was reported about 7:05 a.m. in the 2500 block of Mulholland Highway. Video showed a white Tesla among trees and brush in rugged and steep terrain about 300 feet below the road.

Malibu Search and Rescue and the California Highway Patrol responded. Traffic control was being conducted between Bardman Avenue and just north of Pacific Coast Highway during the rescue.

A medic was lowered to the wreck by helicopter and one person was hoisted to the road. A second was reported to be trapped and was being treated by the medic.

At least one of the patients was talking to rescuers.
