BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — Bakersfield police investigations on recent deaths, with one having no signs of trauma, one death with no suspicious circumstances, and only one death currently being investigated as a suspicious death.

The Bakersfield Police Department said on Wednesday, May 20, at around 9 a.m., officers were called to South King and Watkins Streets, where a body was found in the alleyway. Police said there were no obvious signs of trauma observed at the scene. According to BPD, currently, the Robbery/Homicide Division is investigating the case as a suspicious death. The investigation remains ongoing.

Meanwhile, police said they were called to the Silver Creek park area on the same day, May 20, and found a man, estimated to be in his 60’s, in his car. Police said the initial report from the coroner is that the man died of natural causes; there was no trauma. BPD said they are not investigating further. Witnesses stated the man was known to live in his car, and he had been living in that area for quite some time, according to police.

The day after, on May 21, just after 9 a.m., officers were called to the 3900 block of Gosford Road for a report of a non-responsive person. Officers found a body of a man. Police said the person who called described the man as a transient. The coroner will determine the cause of death. Police said they are not investigating, as there were no suspicious circumstances.

Bakersfield police said there were three recent calls to the Fastrip on 34th Street. On May 18 and May 20, there was a peace disturbance. Police said the third call was on May 23 for a verbal altercation between two women who are related, with one allegedly hitting the other during the argument. The incident is under investigation.
