Friends of a Bay Area punk musician are rallying to help him recover after a San Francisco house fire that they say destroyed his room.
“His room was completely destroyed,” the band wrote on the fundraiser’s page. “Clothes. Bed. Furniture. Personal belongings. The everyday stuff that makes up a life.”
The campaign was launched this week with a goal of raising $10,000, which was later raised to $11,000. Coykendall said the money would help cover Fuzz Master’s first month’s rent, a deposit, housing costs, daily necessities and other basic living expenses.
The fundraiser noted that his guitars survived, along with a few records and pairs of shoes.
“If you know Fuzz, then you already know how much he means to the Bay Area punk and garage community,” the band wrote. “He’s one of those people who has always shown up for others — supporting friends, helping build community, and being part of what makes this scene feel like home.”
The Creepy Crawlies describe themselves as a female-fronted Bay Area punk band playing ’77-style punk with a spooky garage edge. The lineup includes Coykendall, Fuzz Master (whose real name was not disclosed), bassist Jenni Coppertone and drummer Thor Dsr.
The band released its debut EP, “We Are the Creepy Crawlies,” in 2025, according to its Bandcamp page. The group has also been promoting a physical 7-inch release featuring “Graveyard Love” and a cover of Dead Moon’s “Killing Me.”
The San Francisco Fire Department reported a handful of residential fires this week, including multiple incidents on Tuesday, May 26, but the fundraiser does not specify which fire destroyed Fuzz Master’s room and belongings.
“We know $10,000 sounds like a lot,” the band wrote. “But imagine losing almost everything you own overnight in one of the most expensive cities in the country. This isn’t about replacing a lifetime of belongings perfectly — it’s about helping someone rebuild enough of their life to have stability again.”
