Authorities have publicly identified a man who was killed Thursday in a solo car crash on a rural road near El Capitan Reservoir.
Kim Burris, 71, was headed west on El Monte Road in his hometown of Lakeside about 11 a.m. when the 2008 Toyota Avalon he was driving veered off the north side of the roadway and struck a tree west of El Cajon Mountain Truck Trail, according to the Medical Examiner’s Office and California Highway Patrol.
Burris, who was not wearing a seat belt, died at the scene of the crash, CHP Officer Jasmine Lopez said.
