(FOX40.COM) — The primary race for California’s 9th Congressional District pits incumbent Democrat U.S. Rep. Josh Harder against four Republicans who hope to unseat him.
The newly redrawn 9th District no longer covers all of Stockton but still includes parts as well as Tracy and Manteca. Antioch was also drawn into the 9th District as part of the Prop 50 redistricting effort.
Josh Harder (D)
Harder is the current representative for California’s 9th Congressional District and is running for reelection.
Harder supports repealing the gas tax, capping insulin prices and hiring more police officers to fight drug trafficking.

Khalid Jafri (R)
Khalid Jafri is a retired engineer who worked for the state’s water resources department.
Parts of Jafri’s platform include creating cost controls to fight inflation and not compromising on border security.

John McBride (R)
John McBride, a longtime strength coach at local schools, is also running
In office, McBride says he would seek to cut back on government spending, advocate for natural healing methods and reduce government influence on small farms.
