BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — It’s been more than two weeks since a family cat in West Bakersfield was allegedly stolen from their front porch by a person delivering an Amazon package.
It started as an Amazon delivery on May 14 — and ended with a missing cat.
Surveillance footage from the family’s Ring camera shows a delivery driver dropping off an Amazon package, then seemingly taking another package – Junie.

17 News was the first to report this story, and since then, it has made national headlines. Our report sparked nationwide interest in finding Junie — the story being featured in our sister stations like KTLA in Los Angeles, FOX5 in San Diego, and FOX40 in Sacramento. It has also been picked up by TMZ and People Magazine.
But even with so much attention, one question remains. Where is Junie?
It’s been more than two weeks since a Bakersfield family cat went missing amid an Amazon Delivery on May 14, 2026.
The driver’s face is blurred because charges have not been filed. But an Amazon spokesperson confirmed they have identified the driver and have had discussions with him.
However, they’re tight-lipped about a resolution. 17 News has had several phone calls with Amazon. 17’s Veronica Catlin has sent Amazon email after email — asking about the action they are taking to find Junie, and requesting that they put us in contact with the driver. We want to hear his side of the story. But they haven’t.
A Bakersfield family is still searching for their cat, Junie, who they say was taken during an Amazon delivery on May 14, 2026.
And come to find out, this isn’t the first case of a missing cat involving an Amazon delivery.
In December of 2025, KTLA reported that a third-party driver for Amazon was accused of taking another family cat, Piper, from an LA home. To this day, Piper has not been found.
For Junie, it’s been 15 days. An Amazon spokesperson told 17 News:
“The driver works for a Delivery Service Partner, which is a local, small businesses that deliver packages to customers. We’re looking into it and working with law enforcement as they investigate.”
Kern County Sheriff’s Office confirmed they have been in contact with Amazon about the alleged catnapping, and as of May 29, an investigation is ongoing.
