May 18 — A male subject in the picnic area of Culbertson Park was being loud and acting erratic, and made contact with a homeless male. The subject was on the phone trying to get a ride back to Vancouver. The subject said he was hard of hearing, and that is why he was being loud. An officer asked him to keep it down.
A male subject has been urinating in public and defecating in public, as well. He was currently behind Dylan’s Bakery. An officer contacted him and told him to leave the area and go to Seaview.
May 19 — Caller reported a male subject and a female subject running in and out of the area. He also reported that the female was crying. An officer checked the area, but was unable to locate the subjects. He stayed in the area for a few minutes in case the couple came back.
Theft: A garbage can at the caller’s house, which is by Oman and Sons, was stolen last night. He suspects a male subject who has been talking to his can, and the caller thinks the suspect thinks it’s his girlfriend. If anyone sees the suspect, ask him where the can is, and get it back to the caller.
May 20 — Trespass: An officer went to tear apart a homeless camp and found a male subject sleeping there under a garbage can. The officer told the subject he had to leave, and made him clean up everything. The officer stayed there as he did so.
The officer also told the subject he needed to return the garbage can to wherever he had taken it from. It should be noted that the officer had not read the logs yet, and didn’t know about the stolen garbage can. The subject said he would put the can back, and the officer watched him walk down the street with it.
After reading the logs the officer called the person the can was stolen from, and he said the can had actually showed back up yesterday, but then went missing again last night. Then this morning he caught the subject putting it back. He told the subject to stay away and stop taking his garbage can.
The officer told him that they will try to find the subject today, and tell him that if he takes the can again he will be arrested for trespassing and theft. The garbage can owner is also going to put up cameras.
A woman whose dress was falling down was exposing her breast. According to the caller, the person asked a child if they wanted to see her breast. They were not interested in pursuing charges.
The officer found her, and she denied everything. He told her if we get any more calls on her saying anything of the sort, she would be going to jail. She just wanted to argue with the officer about the allegations.
An officer contacted a female subject about possible thefts from The Sandbar business. She stated they just conducted an audit, and found drinks and food have been getting voided and wiped out of the system and not being paid for, but still being provided to customers.
Several accounts from others at work stated a female employee was involved. She does not have access to business accounts and is not taking money or taking product home, just giving out free drinks to customers, upwards of $10,000 over a period of time. The employee was let go about a week ago.
At this time, the female subject is going to conduct some more follow-up and email the officer more information when she has it. They do not wish to pursue charges yet, but want a record of making a report of this information. The officer will be in contact with the subject in the future, and pursue charges if they wish to, later on, with more evidence.
May 22 — Traffic citation: Ezekiel A. Ponce was stopped for having an expired registration from March 15, 2022. He told the officer that he was private and not commerce, and that what the officer stopped him for was not a crime, and so on, and so on.
After asking him for his ID a few times, and him not providing it, the officer asked him to step from the car. He then decided it was in his best interest to provide it. Ponce was suspended in Oregon and Washington. He also had a misdemeanor citation out of Cowlitz County.
Ponce had a large dog in the passenger seat and the officer could not get a good read on it if it was aggressive or not.
The officer decided to cite and release Ponce for third-degree driving while license suspended, and expired vehicle license over 2 months. He was sure to tell the officer that the sheriffs understand the constitution. He was told not to drive until he found a licensed driver.
May 24 — Burglary: On May 23, between 3:50 and 3:55 a.m., an unknown male subject attempted to break into a coffee stand that the caller owns. When the officer arrived, he spoke with the owner, and she showed him security footage of a male subject walking up to the back entrance door of the shop.
The male subject then held onto the doorknob and slammed into the door twice using his shoulder, attempting to forcefully gain entry into the coffee stand. In the process the subject also breaks off the handle to the outdoor freezer that is located just outside of the entrance door.
In another angle the subject can be seen attempting to pull open the sliding glass serving window on the east side of the building. He was unable to gain entry on either of his attempts to break in.
Screenshots of the subject have been posted to the white board if anyone can ID him. The officer provided a written statement, and said she would like to press charges and also have the male subject trespassed from the property. This log will serve as the case report pending suspect identification.
