BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — As families continue to celebrate their graduates across Kern County, PG&E is sending a warning against releasing balloons during the festivities.

The utility says metallic balloons can pose serious safety risks when they hit power lines, even causing power outages in some cases.

PG&E Spokesperson Jeff Smith joined ARC Bakersfield to talk about the dangers of releasing balloons and share how families can celebrate safely.
