Nighttime Zoo: The San Diego Zoo’s Nighttime Zoo shows are back. Maritime Museum: The “Take Me to the Water: Histories of the Black Pacific” exhibit has landed at the Maritime Museum of San Diego. The yearlong exhibit examines Black maritime history and culture in the U.S. Pacific. This included 500 years of Black mariners in fishing, sailing, surfing and whaling. The exhibit is a collaboration with Caroline Collins, an assistant professor of social and spatial justice in the Urban Studies and Planning Department at the University of California, San Diego. The Human League, Soft Cell and Alison Moyet: The sounds of synth pop and new wave music from English bands are landing in San Diego this week. The Human League, Soft Cell and Alison Moyet will all be performing for one night at the Cal Coast Credit Union Amphitheater. The Human League is known for its 1981 hit song “Don’t You Want Me” and in 1983, the album “Themselves” was nominated for a Grammy. Soft Cell’s “Tainted Love” is arguably its biggest known song and Moyet released several singles, including “Love Resurrection,” “Invisible” and “Is This Love?” 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. “Purpose”: La Jolla Playhouse presents the West Coast premiere of Branden Jacobs-Jenkins 2025 play that won both the Pulitzer Prize for Drama and Tony Award for Best New Play. “Kim’s Convenience”: The Old Globe presents the national touring production of Ins Choi’s award-winning comedy that inspired his hit Netflix TV series. Choi plays the Korean-born Mr. Kim who runs a convenience store in Toronto while raising his Canadian-born children with traditional values. Mister A’s turns back time: For two nights, Mister A’s is turning back the clock to the mid-1960s for a special prix-fixe meal. The night starts at the bar with complimentary Prosecco and appetizers. New tango show debuts in Escondido: “Tango Elite: The Show” will premiere next week at the California Center for the Art, Escondido. Inspired by global touring shows like Tango Argentino and Tango Pasión, this new production blends Argentine dance with Old Hollywood glamour. Lagoons: Los Angeles-based duo The Lagoons is traveling down to San Diego to perform at the Music Box. Brothers Joe and Selan make up the band mix indie pop, chillwave, surf rock, jazz, synth pop and electronic music to create their own laid-back sound and introspective lyrics, according to Spotify. The Lagoons have released four full-length albums and two EPs since their debut single “California” in 2016.
