BY MAIL, YOUR BALLOT MUST BE POSTMARKED NO LATER THAN JUNE 2ND. SO HOLDING AN ELECTION, AS YOU CAN IMAGINE, IS A BIG TASK. ELECTION OFFICIALS ARE MAKING SURE THEY HAVE EVERYTHING READY FOR TOMORROW. WE’RE READY FOR FOR ANYTHING. ANYBODY WATCHING TV, ANYBODY WHO’S BEEN GETTING THEIR MAIL FROM THE MAILBOX KNOW THAT THERE IS AN INTENSE ELECTION GOING ON. WHAT KIND OF TURNOUT ARE YOU EXPECTING FOR TOMORROW FOR A MIDTERM PRIMARY, WE TYPICALLY SEE ANYWHERE FROM THE LOW OR HIGH 30S TO LOW 40%. CURRENTLY, WE’RE SITTING AT JUST UNDER 20%. SO THERE’S STILL A LOT OF BALLOTS TO COME IN TODAY AND TOMORROW. SO WHAT SHOULD VOTERS KNOW BEFORE HEADING TO THE POLLS? IF YOU ARE GOING TO WAIT TO VOTE IN PERSON TOMORROW, YOU SHOULD KNOW THAT YOU WILL PROBABLY HAVE TO WAIT IN LINE. WE ALWAYS SEE LONG LINES ON ELECTION DAY, BECAUSE WE DO HAVE A LOT OF PEOPLE WHO LIKE TO WAIT UNTIL ELECTION DAY. IF YOU’RE GOING TO VOTE BY BALLOT DROP BOX OR VOTE BY MAIL, JUST MAKE SURE THAT YOU SIGN YOUR PINK ENVELOPE AND KNOWING YOU HAVE A HEALTHY AMOUNT OF BALLOTS THAT HAVE BEEN RETURNED ALREADY. WHAT HAPPENS AS SOON AS THE POLLS CLOSE TOMORROW NIGHT? WILL YOU CELEBRATE? THAT’S A BIG CELEBRATION FOR US AT THE ELECTIONS OFFICE. Sacramento County election officials are making sure everything is ready for Election Day in California’s June 2 primary. Ken Casparis, who works with the Sacramento County Voter Registration and Elections, joined KCRA 3 to discuss what steps are in place to ensure voting runs smoothly and securely.He said officials have been working for months to plan the election and is “fully staffed up.” Casparis said that midterm election turnout is usually anywhere from the “high 30s to low 40 percent.” Turnout so far is under 20%, so there is still a lot of ballots to come in, he said. Casparis said that the county usually sees long lines on Election Day. He reminded those who will vote by drop box or mail to sign their ballot envelope.
