The Kern County Coroner has identified the man killed in a head-on crash near Buttonwillow Tuesday as Luis Manuel Galvez Nido, 38, of Bakersfield.
He was originally identified by the California Highway Patrol as Delano man.
The CHP said Nido was eastbound in the westbound lanes passing multiple on Highway 58 near Bussell Road when he collided with a westbound vehicle driven by an Arizona woman. Nido was pronounced dead at the scene of the 5:42 a.m. crash.
The woman suffered major injuries.
