A pedestrian was killed early Wednesday in a traffic collision in San Francisco’s South of Market neighborhood, police said.
Officers responded at 5:31 a.m. to Brannan and Seventh streets and found the pedestrian on the ground and the vehicle involved in the collision, the San Francisco Police Department said.
Paramedics tried to save the pedestrian, but the person was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. The victim’s name was not immediately released.
The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators, police said. Alcohol or drugs do not appear to be factors at this point in the investigation, according to police.
The death follows several serious pedestrian crashes in San Francisco. Police said a pedestrian died last week after four people were struck near 16th and Mission streets. Three others were evaluated at the scene for injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
A city traffic fatality table listed nine traffic deaths in 2026 before the Brannan and Seventh streets collision, most involving pedestrians.
