An arrest warrant has reportedly been issued in Santa Clara County, Calif., for San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk
The warrant reportedly comes in response to a viral video Aiyuk posted in December showing him speeding past the 49ers’ stadium
Court records reviewed by PEOPLE show three active traffic cases against Aiyuk dating back to February 2021
An arrest warrant has been issued for San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk, according to reports.
The warrant issued by the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s office reportedly comes in response to a video the 28-year-old NFL star posted on YouTube last December, which shows him driving his car well over 100 mph in a 40 mph zone, according to ESPN, the California Post and The San Francisco Standard.

Court records reviewed by PEOPLE show a filing dated January 30, which names Aiyuk in regards to a traffic violation. PEOPLE has reached out to the district attorney’s office for more information regarding the case against the 49ers star, who has played in San Francisco since the team selected him in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft.
Santa Clara County court records show there have been three other traffic violations previously filed against Aiyuk dating back to February 2021. Two of the cases are still pending.

The video reportedly at the center of the warrant shows Aiyuk driving upwards of 111 mph past Levi’s Stadium, where his team plays, while showing off his Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing to viewers.

Aiyuk later apologized for the video days after he first posted the clip, writing that he reconsidered his actions after spending time with his son.
“Sorry ya’ll, my car content won’t come with speeding anymore,” Aiyuk wrote in a post. “Was praying with my son tonight and wouldn’t want anybody else to miss out on an opportunity to do the same with their loved ones! My apologies.”

Aiyuk tore his ACL, MCL and meniscus in October 2024. According to ESPN, the team announced last July that it placed Aiyuk on its reserve squad – a move that voided $27 million in guaranteed money the team owed to the receiver. The outlet reported that the 49ers have been looking to trade Aiyuk this offseason after head coach Kyle Shanahan told reporters in January that the NFL veteran would not return to the team.

San Francisco 49ers general manager John Lynch told reporters in April that the team was open to receiving offers for Aiyuk, who could also be released from his contract before next season begins.
“We’re available,” Lynch said, according to ESPN. “Give us a call. I think it’s the prudent thing to do. He’s an extremely talented player. He’s been an extremely effective player in our league. The situation didn’t work itself out here. That’s not to say it can’t be rekindled somewhere else. And we’d be happy to do something with anyone if the opportunity presented itself.”
There are currently no hearings listed for the traffic violation case against Aiyuk, records show. Court filings do not list an attorney representing him in the case.
