San Dieguito Academy High School once again transformed its campus on May 22 into a vibrant celebration of student creativity, performance, innovation, and community during its annual Exhibition Day, one of the school’s most cherished traditions, according to a news release.
Exhibition Day was originally founded in 1997 through the vision of former SDA Science teacher George Stimson. Exhibition Day is a uniquely student-driven event in which regular classes are modified and the campus becomes an interactive festival of student passions, talents, and entrepreneurial spirit.
This year, students organized over 60 exhibits and performances across campus, showcasing the diverse interests and creativity that make SDA distinctive, according to the news release. Featured exhibits included a fashion show, an art gallery exhibition with a fundraiser for teacher Kevin Witt and his family, a photography showcase, student band performances, performances by the Mexican band Grupo Rezzio, scuba diving demonstrations, an “Auto Shop Car Show,” yoga, The Fashion Club’s “Threads” Magazine, skateboarding demos, a caricature drawing booth, and many more interactive displays and performances, the news release stated.
This year’s Exhibition Day also marked the final event for beloved ASB teacher Rod Keilor, who retired at the conclusion of the 2025–2026 school year after 33 years in education. Keillor has helped organize Exhibition Day alongside SDA students for the past 25 years and “graduated” alongside the Class of 2026, the news release stated. When asked how he feels about retiring, Keillor said, “High school was the best 33 years of my life!”, according to the news release.
Students, staff, alumni, and community members recognize Keillor as one of the guiding forces behind the spirit and success of Exhibition Day throughout its history, the news release stated.
