BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The Bakersfield Police Department made over a hundred traffic stops between 8 a.m. and noon on Thursday.
The traffic stop operation was conducted in partnership with the California Highway Patrol and focused on the Harris Road and Panama Lane corridor in southwest Bakersfield.
Of the 105 total traffic stops made, 102 citations were issued to drivers, three vehicles were impounded for license violations, one misdemeanor warrant arrest was made and one person was arrested on suspicion of evading and assaulting a police officer.
Funding for operations like this is provided to BPD from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
BPD is also urging residents to contact law enforcement if they see a suspected impaired driver.
