An Oakland man has been charged with murder for allegedly stabbing a man to death in East Oakland over Memorial Day weekend, prosecutors said Thursday.
Ottoniel Salesgarcia was charged with murder and assault with a deadly weapon after an incident in East Oakland on May 23, according to prosecutors. Police responded to reports of a stabbing in the 1700 block of East 19th Street, which borders San Antonio Park.
Police found the victim at the scene and he later died at a nearby hospital. The identity of the victim was not released.
Salesgarcia is scheduled to be arraigned on Friday at 9 a.m. at Wiley Manuel Courthouse in Oakland.
