(FOX40.COM) — Employees at Bricks & Minifigs Sacramento say they are receiving threatening calls, emails and voicemails tied to a viral controversy involving a different store in Oregon.
A dispute over a LEGO collection valued at more than $200,000 at a Bricks & Minifigs store in Oregon has gained national attention online.
Despite having no involvement in the case, Sacramento store employees say they have been targeted by people upset about the situation.
“We are flooded lately with derogatory stuff, and we have nothing to do with any of the controversy,” said Dylan Anderson, General Manager of Bricks & Minifigs Sacramento.
Anderson said the store has filed multiple police reports with the Sacramento Police Department after receiving threatening messages.
“There are active police reports. I do my best to grab every call so that I can protect my staff,” Anderson said.
The Sacramento location is independently owned and operated. Anderson said while he understands people are passionate about the controversy, local employees should not be blamed.
“We understand people feel passionate and we want the harassment to stop,” Anderson said.
Customers agree.
“As an independently owned Sacramento store, this harassment that is going on, we don’t deserve that,” said customer Reggie Lowe.
Store leaders are asking the public not to target Sacramento employees over a dispute they say has nothing to do with their business.
