San Antonio is celebrity central now that the Spurs are in the NBA Finals. Actors, Grammy Award winners and models were all in town to catch Game 1 against the New York Knicks on Wednesday, June 3.
Among them was “Severance” star John Turturro, who co-stars with Adam Scott in the 2025 Apple TV+ thriller. In the series, he plays “Irving Bailiff,” one of the workers whose personality is stuck at Lumon Industries. The 69-year-old performer stopped by Paris Hatters at 119 Broadway Street, not far from the Alamo, before heading to the Frost Bank Center.
Store Manager Alex Cortez tells MySA that the star waltzed in around 3:30 p.m. He was accompanied by his 25-year-old son, Diego, who helps run a media production company.
“He was really nice and chatted with us for a while,” Cortez said.
She adds that Turturro spoke with her dad, Paris Hatter owner Abe Cortez, about an upcoming film project. They discussed “The Only Living Pickpocket in New York,” which is expected to open in Texas theaters this fall.
But what caught his eye in the shop? Alex says the actor was checking out the company’s Open Road styles. In particular, a dark green design piqued his interest. Around 4 p.m., Turturro checked the time and got in a bit of a hurry to head toward the sports arena, according to Alex.
Still, he made time to take photos with the Cortez family. A photo shared on the business’s Instagram shows Turturro cheesing with Abe. Some folks may be sour about the star’s outfit choice, though, since he’s wearing a Knicks jersey. The Turturros were born and raised in New York, so we’ll try to let it slide.
Turturro’s former boss, Ben Stiller, the Severance director and executive producer, was also in San Antonio for the NBA Finals. Other courtside guests included Tori Kelly, Timothée Chalamet and Paulina Chávez.
The “Severance” far from being the first celebrity spotted at Paris Hatters. The shop, family-owned since 1917, has hosted Led Zeppelin’s Robert Plant, country music’s Terri Clark, and comedian Rob Schneider, among others. It’s become a favorite among tourists and locals. The spot not only sells beloved brands such as Stetson, Dobbs, and Borsalino, but also offers boots and hat renovation services.
