GOP gubernatorial candidate Hilton slams California as state takes days to count votes

WASHINGTON (TNND) — California GOP gubernatorial candidate Steve Hilton on Friday slammed the state as it takes days to count votes for the election.

Hilton was responding to a report that stated that Ventura County wouldn’t have another election update until June 9.

“This is COMPLETELY unacceptable,” he wrote on X. “There must be accountability for all the officials responsible for California’s election shambles.”

The election for governor in California took place on June 2. As of June 5, 60% of the votes have been counted, according to The New York Times.

Hilton leads at 27.2%, former Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra is at second place with 26% and billionaire Tom Steyer has 20.2% of the vote.

Decision Desk HQ has already predicted Becerra as one of the two winners in the California primary.

The top two candidates will advance to the election in November.

In the race for Los Angeles mayor, 64% of the votes have been counted. Incumbent Karen Bass has already advanced to the November election. Former reality TV star Spencer Pratt is in second place with 29.4% of the vote and Los Angeles Councilmember Nithya Raman has 23.4% of the vote.

“God always wins,” Pratt wrote on X earlier this week.
