Orion Township, MI -Voters in Orion Township have both a police operating millage and a fire and emergency medical services operating millage on the Aug. 4, 2026 ballot.
Here are the ballot proposals:
Orion Township Charter Township of Orion Police Operating Millage
Shall the previously voted increase in the tax limitations imposed under Article IX, Section 6 of the Michigan Constitution in the Charter Township of Orion, of 3.50 mills ($3.50 per $1,000 of taxable value), which, at the time of expiration in December 2025, had been reduced to 3.41 mills ($3.41 per $1,000 of taxable value) by the required millage rollbacks, be renewed at 3.41 mills and increased by 0.34 mills, for a total levy of 3.75 mills ($3.75 per $1,000 of taxable value), and levied for a period of four (4) years, starting December 2026 and expiring December 2029, inclusive, for the purpose of providing police services, including all related operating and capital expenditures? If approved and levied in full, this millage would raise an estimated $9,825,721 in the first year of levy. By operation of Michigan law, a portion of the millage revenue may be captured and disbursed to the following local units of government authorized to receive tax increment revenues: the Orion Township Corridor Improvement Authority and the Oakland County Brownfield Redevelopment Authority.

Operating Millage Shall the Charter Township of Orion be authorized to levy a new additional millage of up to 3.85 mills on all taxable property within the Township and Village of Lake Orion for a period of four (4) years, starting December 2026 and expiring December 2029, inclusive, for the purpose of funding fire protection and emergency medical services (EMS), including Advanced Life Support, and all related operations, wages, benefits, and capital expenditures?
