The Mets opened their weekend series with a 5-0 win over the Padres on Friday night, but San Diego bounced back to earn a narrow 3-2 victory on Saturday, forcing a rubber match for the finale. Austin Warren was credited with Saturday’s loss after giving up two earned runs in two innings, blowing the save that dropped him to 1-2 on the season. Brett Baty brought in one of New York’s runs with an RBI single, while Marcus Semien was responsible for the other with a solo shot to center field.
Bradgley Rodriguez picked up his first win of the season, throwing for one inning and striking out one batter in the process. While he did give up Semien’s home run, his team rallied around him, bringing in an additional two runs to get the win. Fernando Tatis Jr. brought home the first run with an RBI single and Freddy Fermin plated the tying run and game winner with a two-run shot to left field in the bottom of the seventh.
Huascar Brazobán will get the start for the Mets on Sunday, while the Padres will give the ball to Randy Vásquez. Brazobán is currently 3-1 on the season with an ERA of 2.25, while Vásquez is 5-3 with an ERA of 3.31.
