SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — At least two brush fires that prompted evacuations broke out during windy conditions in San Diego County on Monday.
A fast-moving brush fire broke out near homes in Sorrento Valley Monday morning and evacuation warnings and orders were in place.
Another brush fire began around 11 a.m. near the airport in Oceanside, prompting police to also evacuate nearby homes.
Sorrento Fire
The Sorrento Fire started around 9:30 a.m. Monday and quickly spread to 65 acres in the area of Sorrento Valley Blvd and Ocean Air Drive in Sorrento Valley. As of about 6 p.m., the fire had reached 90 acres and was 40% contained, with forward spread stopped.
Cal Fire reported a threat to transmission powerlines, and steep terrain made containment of the Sorrento Fire difficult for firefighters.
The San Diego Police Department issued evacuation orders for residents in nearby areas. As of about 8 p.m. Monday, all evacuation orders and warnings were lifted.
A temporary evacuation point was set up at Mandell Weiss Eastgate Park at the intersection of Eastgate Mall and Regent Road.
Sorrento Valley Blvd was completely closed between Vista Sorrento Parkway and Camino Santa Fe, according to police.
Smoke was visible from both the I-5 and I-805 freeways.

Airport Fire
Oceanside Police officers were evacuating homes near the Oceanside airport and Prince of Peace Abbey after a brush fire broke out at 11 a.m. on Airport Road, along State Route 76 and North Canyon Drive, in Oceanside, according to the City of Oceanside and Alert San Diego.
Cal Fire reports the Airport Fire was 5 acres as of noon Monday. Evacuation orders and warnings were lifted as of about 3 p.m. Monday. The fire has been 100% contained, according to fire officials.

A temporary evacuation point was set up at El Corazon Senior Center at 3480 Village Commercial Drive, according to Genasys Protect.
