One thing about Los Angeles in the summer — it’s guaranteed to get hot. In fact, there’s a good chance that we’ll see El Niño emerge in the coming months, meaning this summer could be hotter and drier than usual, according to the National Weather Service.
But don’t fret. Los Angeles has plenty to offer for visitors and locals to stay cool.
Don’t sleep on local libraries
L.A. and the greater Los Angeles area have dozens of libraries that are not only air conditioned, but they also provide more than just books. Take the eclectic Cerritos Library, for example. Its three levels include a skyline room, an aquarium and a children’s section that also features a dinosaur display.

Cool off poolside
Los Angeles has no shortage of public pools to dip into. If water slides are your thing, check out the Stoner Park Pool in West L.A. at 1835 Stoner Ave. or the Santa Clarita Aquatic Center at 20850 Centre Pointe Pkwy.
If you’re looking for looking for a vacation experience, you can also purchase a resort pass, which lets you access some hotel rooftop pools and other amenities.

Winter activities in the summer?
Yes, what better way to cool off than skating on a big block of ice and visiting a historic Zamboni? The LA Kings Iceland in Paramount boasts a small museum dedicated to the ice machine and hours for public skating. The rink is located on 8041 Jackson St.
You can also skate at the LA Kings Ice Pickwick in Burbank; public skate is $22 a person. You can find their daily schedule here.

Art is always cool, literally
Another fun way to get out of the sun is to visit a museum and their air-conditioned exhibits. L.A. has so many to choose from, but here are (just) a few:
