EAST BAY, CA — Orinda police have issued a Red Flag Warning for the East Bay Hills.

Residents should avoid activities during that time that could spark a fire, ensure they are prepared in the case of a wildfire emergency, and monitor local weather conditions.

The National Weather Service issues Red Flag alerts when critical weather conditions are combining to create a high risk of extreme wildfire growth and rapid spread.

PG&E issued a warning yesterday based on the National Weather Service forecasts. The utility warned residents to prepare for possible power shutoffs as strong winds and increasingly dry conditions threaten to elevate wildfire risk beginning Wednesday. That alert was aimed primarily at the North Bay.
