FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (KFSN) — California voters will determine the fate of Proposition 50 during Tuesday’s statewide Special Election.
The single issue before November voters will determine if the state’s congressional maps are redrawn mid-decade.
Critics, including Republicans who oppose the ballot measure, say it’s an attempt to gerrymander or redraw congressional districts in an effort to influence the results of next year’s midterm elections.
It will impact who will control the U-S representatives.
Strong supporters of the proposition, including leading Democratic voices, say it’s a response to President Trump’s efforts to rig the election in other parts of the country, including Texas.
Voting centers already opened across the state, stretching into Tuesday.
Registered voters are already submitting their ballots through the official vote-by-mail ballot box drop-off.
The Fresno County Clerk Registrar of Voters says there will be a total of 27 in-person voting locations on Election Day, including its Kern Street office in Downtown Fresno.
