A sinkhole caused a road closure in Long Beach Sunday, Nov. 2.
Crews responded around 10:45 a.m. to the 300 block of Bayshore Avenue, where they found a sinkhole that measured about 10 feet by 15 feet with its deepest point around five feet, said Capt. Dennis Garrett with the Long Beach Fire Department.
No injuries were reported, and no property was damaged, Garrett said. The sinkhole didn’t affect any utilities, and no evacuations were ordered.
Bayshore remained closed between Vista and Appian Way as of about 4:30 p.m. Sunday. Drivers should use alternate routes and avoid the area.
The city’s Public Works Department took over to assess the sinkhole and investigate the cause.
